Summer Solstice Astrology JUNE 20, 2016
This is the second Sagittarius Full Moon of 2016 (we had one in May); this one is 29° Sagittarius 13” at 7:02 AM ET.
This is a very challenging Full Moon; there is no escape hatch for those who might prefer to avoid confrontation. Have you been feeling a quickening? This is an intense time for many.
As a rule, a Full Moon presents situations where we must integrate opposing forces; this can work towards the culmination of a specific goal. The completion of a task or project may become an obsession or feel a bit unobtainable. This time however, this does not have to be the case; you might want to lighten up the deadline— one Full Moon is not the same as another.
If you find yourself in a headlock with another, meditate on the Full Moon to open options.
In Sagittarius, the Moon is lit by the Gemini Sun. You might need more information in order to come to a point of wisdom or understanding.
Conversation can allow new layers of knowledge, but you have to be willing to listen even when you are sure you are right. On the other hand, you may need to be the person presenting questions to someone who seems unyielding because of their authority.
Humor, curiosity and an agile ability to pose questions or offer news can open communications. This can be particularly beneficial in a dialog with siblings or neighbors; the potential to mend fences is high, but only if you’re willing to deepen the connection.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree of the Gemini Sun is “A Parade of Bathing Beauties before Large Beach Crowds”.
At first consideration, this is a rather disparate image for the strength of this Full Moon, but here’s the analysis.
The parade of beauties traditionally is to be singled out for inspection. One could select the most attractive candidate, but this is a subjective exercise — as in Atlantic City, Miss America type parades.
Yet the “beauties” can also be a force to be reckoned with— the act of “bathing” is to submerge into water.
Water is symbolic of the universal unconscious of which we are all a part. The question becomes which candidate provides the essence of integration for you. The “large crowd” conjures the act of walking on shifting sand, so where do you take root?
Which “beauty” wins the prize based on your perception of her sacred bath?
Every part of the symbol is like a dream fragment and therefore a gift for your unique deciphering. The symbol could just as well be a cluster of gemstones on the sand. The danger is for a jewel to slip away from acknowledgment, yet there is pride in the act of a parade.
Reflect on what is in your life that calls for your attention. Using the information that Gemini symbolizes, sift through for order of priority. No “beauty” wants to dissolve into the sand. Yet it is up to you to gain clarity as to order of importance, while at the same time, appreciating each blessing or gift that calls your attention.
This Sagittarius Moon’s Sabian Symbol is “The Pope Blessing the Faithful”. In the Catholic Church, the Pope has absolute authority in all matters connected to the doctrine of the faith.
The Pope is said to have the direct insight of God in these matters. The blessing bestowed by the Pope is God’s blessing through a human hand.
The “Beauties” symbol depicted jewels that were disembodied from the whole; it shows the ability to separate and discern fragments of the Self. The Pope symbol is a reminder that your Higher Self is available to direct a beam of light on decision-making.
You are blessed when you step outside the drone of the crowd within the busy mind.
Each of us has so many pieces that call for attention; when we feel fractured or trapped the way out is to recall connection with that Higher Self— your own inner Pope.

The Enchanted Tarot
In Tarot, the Hierophant is sometimes depicted as a Pope in either gender. To distill down its meaning to a soundbite: there is no mediator between you and God/Goddess/Source/Higher Power.
You have a direct channel to Spirit, we all do. Let your inner Pope provide the blessing to direct you to the right choice as to which aspect of your Beauty you choose to express today.
The Moon goes void-of-course/voc* at the Full Moon 7:02 AM ET.
The Moon enters Capricorn at 7:55 AM. A Mercury/Saturn picture in the sky indicates tough conversation; it might be necessary to redefine a preconceived idea or to struggle to be heard. Sometimes it is hard to say something but to keep quiet is toxic.
With a Mercury/Neptune picture as well, the clarity of the thought can move out of your grasp if it is not defined early in the day. The tendency may be to soften the message, which may be OK as long as its impact is not dissolved to invisibility.
Check in with yourself mid-afternoon to be sure that you do not feel compromised or short-changed. If you do, make conscious inventory to discern what needs to be addressed because a buried grievance has a tendency to erupt.
The Summer Solstice occurs at 6:34 PM ET; with the Moon in Capricorn, Saturn rising and Jupiter on the midheaven, tough choices do not lead to easy resolution. What exactly is the Solstice? EarthSky
The potential for surprise and upsets continues throughout the next 6 months, as the need for change ignites. No matter how comfortable a tried-and-true routine may be, disruption can force a new view.
Be mindful that any institution you’re involved in may go through shifts over the next few months, whether corporate, education, financial or medical. Of course we can continue to expect this in government. Yet in the United States, the Solstice chart for Washington shows that the thrust is to create stability while projecting optimism. The need to heal old wounds is essential and to bring unifying dialog.
