Venus/Jupiter makes a picture in the wee hours, which shines luck and love on those awake to receive. If you prefer to slumber at this hour, put a wish under your pillow, as well as active overtures to bring it about in the preceding days.
The moon is void-of-course/voc* until 5:11 a.m. ET, when it goes into the sign of Capricorn. This opens a dynamic day, when adversaries (friendly or not) are met head-on.
The goal is to hold your ground, which does not necessarily mean hand-to-hand combat! We are in the energy of the Full Moon, which occurs exactly at 10:20 pm ET.
Full Moons are about integration: how polar opposites blend to form a whole. Today the Capricorn Moon is lit by the Cancer Sun. Who you are in the outer world, what you strive to be recognized for, how you obtain your goals is seeded by your roots. How well we succeed in our careers and how comfortable/confident we are at the pinnacle of achievement, is directly affected by the well from which we draw.
Not everyone has the past support required to give him or her sure footing in the outer world, but you do have the ability to create a home for yourself that feeds you in the present. It may require some navigation on your part to gain the recognition you deserve, but it all starts with a clear perception of what you’d like to obtain and a sober reflection on if you have the foundation to get there. Although the Capricorn Full Moon throws light on what achievements are in the present, the Sun/Neptune picture in the sky allows dreams of what is possible to enter your viewfinder.
The Sabian Symbol** for the Capricorn Moon at 9-10° is: “An albatross feeding from the hand of a sailor”. The mythology of the albatross is that they hold the souls of dead sailors and therefore are unlucky to kill. In The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the punishment for slaying an albatross led to it being wrapped around the neck of the killer.
In this symbol however, the sailor feeds the albatross, summoning an image of trust and respect. Whether the sailor feels a spiritual allegiance with the bird or simply connects to nature, the picture is one of harmony.
In astrology, the 4 ancient elements, earth, air, fire and water are used to understand the realm in which a symbol belongs. For instance, a sailor is in the water realm, which evokes your feeling self: how you respond to a situation emotionally. The bird belongs to the air modality, which symbolizes our mental process and verbal exchange. Food is from the earth realm, which ties in with the Capricorn Moon (an earth sign). So the symbol conjures a picture where emotions and logic need to be brought down to earth. The food in the symbol is what binds the two.
The Sabian Symbol** for the Cancer Sun at 9-10° is: “A large diamond in the first stages of the cutting process”. A diamond is from the Earth realm and the process of cutting it requires precision and expertise, all qualities that emulate Capricorn characteristics. Yet this is the symbol for the Cancer Sun (a water sign).
The unseen piece in this symbol is the intuition and feeling that comes from the artist, because to do something like “diamond cutting” correctly, one must sense how to release the stone into its magnificence. That part of “seeing” comes from beyond the physical eye; it is a sensitivity that vibrates from the emotional body. Michelangelo said: “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free”. The “first stages” of the diamond cutting process are to reflect, listen, feel and study.
This image integrated with the symbol for the Capricorn Moon, encourages you to feed parts that pit your reactions with your logic. Sometimes we think we know what we aim for in this lifetime, but we react differently when actually presented with the opportunity. On the other hand, you may feel emotionally very attached to a certain routine, situation or person, even though logic tells you otherwise. Look for grounding to comprehend dimensionally what you’d like to see unfold.
This Full Moon has tremendous follow-through potential; choose carefully where to put your focus, because the outcome is likely to happen with cooperative effort.
*Moon VOC/Void-of-Course… in Sagittarius, the scope of far-flung projects deserve attention, but direction is not apparent. Consider with vigor, but make no commitments. You may also want to physically explore a location but don’t expect to find anything concrete… keep your eye on the gas tank if you go for a long ramble.
** We are still in the process of understanding the Sabian symbols, which were channeled in 1925. The spiritualist astrologer Marc Edmund Jones, took Elsie Wheeler, a clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair to a San Diego park with a project. He put a symbol for each of the 360° of the zodiacal wheel on 360 cards. She proceeded to come up with visual phrases for each one of them. They were done in random order and they have a magic that is hard to decipher, yet feels totally right.
