Be wary of committing yourself to anything that may pull you apart or create demands that fracture your time.

Not everything can be delayed, so you may have to put yourself in a situation that you know is taut. Make the decision consciously and give yourself as much “wiggle room” as you can. This way you can state up front if a situation becomes challenging instead of harboring resentment.

Either way, there may be a certain amount of volatility with a project or “agreement”, but sometimes it can’t be helped.

For instance, you can’t broil food without putting it through the flame. Wind down in the evening with those with whom you can enjoy comfortable quiet or relate without artifice.
