The-SunForecast 7/26

The Moon enters Leo at 10:55 a.m. ET on Saturday 7/26. There may be some tension in the early part of the day, especially if someone needs to assert themselves. This is not a negative, but if you have to do this and it doesn’t come easy to you, be sure to pat yourself on the back after you’re done.

Opportunities are still out there, but you might want to wait for the Leo New Moon which occurs at 6:42 p.m. ET before you say a definitive “yes”.

The Sabian Symbol** for the degree of this New Moon is “A formally dressed man and a deer with its horns folded”. I have to say in my years of interpreting these symbols, this one “stumped” me. The pun wasn’t really intended, but there it is. And I think that’s part of the riddle.

To picture a man in dress attire standing with a deer is strange in itself, but then to have a deer with folded horns? Deer have antlers, not horns- and they certainly don’t fold.

fred_Astaire_blackYet the image morphs in my mind into a pop-up book deer that a man is presenting to a child, and now I know what this means. When we dress up, there is an occasion that suits the regal Leo energy. Leo has glamour and self-importance; it wants to shine. Leo also wants to play and create.

The deer is an animal of grace and speed which has adapted to a encroaching suburban environment. The “folded” horns suggest the limitations that the deer experiences so close to “civilization”. So how do we bring in play, grace and the childlike wonder that many people experience when they see a deer?

We need to unfold those feelings. We need to make a formal evaluation of what is important to us about living in harmony with our wilder nature. pop_up_deer

Keep in mind that Leo energy is about having heart, taking heart and a heart of gold. It is courageous and never more so than in a willingness to love.

Symbols aside, what wild part of you feels boxed in because of formality? Is it time to make some spirited leaps into the forest of your creative dreams? The Leo New Moon asks you to come out and play. What game are you ready to begin?

We gather at Wainwright this month on Friday evening, 7/25 to bring about best intentions with this New Moon. Find out more here.

** We are still in the process of understanding the Sabian symbols, which were channeled in 1925. The spiritualist astrologer Marc Edmund Jones, took Elsie Wheeler, a clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair to a San Diego park with a project. He put a symbol for each of the 360° of the zodiacal wheel on 360 cards. She proceeded to come up with visual phrases for each one of them. They were done in random order and they have a magic that is hard to decipher, yet feels totally right.
