Like the majority of people who have heard of the sorrow in Newtown, I am stunned and saddened by what has occurred. Predicting tragedies is not something I do as an astrologer. Unfortunately, there’s usually many signals when we look at the horoscopes of the place, the people involved, after the fact.
When looking at an individual’s horoscope, stuff comes up. In session I will tell someone when to be careful driving or avoid travel or to be hyper-alert.
I do predict “good” and “bad” days, especially in lieu of when to begin an endeavor that brings the desired results. How the energies of a day affect an individual, has everything to do with if that individual’s horoscope is being touched by what’s going on in the sky on a certain day. I don’t believe the planets cause misfortunes or wins, but they are a symbolic language that can alert us to dangers and gifts.
In other words, when Adam Lanza‘s birth information is available for we astrologer’s to research, it is likely we will see why that day allowed him to flow into his horrible plan.
For now, looking at the U.S. with broad strokes, we can see the overall “message” of the incident.
Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and Pluto symbolizes the god of death/transformation and power. Pluto also represents the Shadow, the parts of our psyche we are least able to access. Every individual has a Shadow, as does a nation. Capricorn is status quo, finances, corporations and institutions. These are the areas of life up for change. Pluto is slow-moving, so the fact that it has been in geometric aspect with the U.S.A’s Sun/Jupiter (robust optimism) is one of the indications of the upheaval in our very identity as a nation.
Jupiter was the god of justice and the second amendment is one of the few that no Supreme Court has had the courage to re-define in our changing times.
A faster-moving indication of the sorrow that occurred that day is Mars in Capricorn moving through the 2nd house of Values and engaging Chiron (wounded healer) in the 4th house of home/roots. Mars was the warrior god and the soul-searching of guns continues to be a theme for the people of this nation.
It’s time to look at the wording of the second amendment: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. How well-regulated is our militia if it consists of whomever might want to purchase an arsenal for their home?
But this is not simply about guns, as I sited in my blog about Aurora; this is tied to our healthcare system, our economy and each individual citizen’s willingness to take responsibility for change.
There is more to look at, but lastly Uranus in Aries which stirs up unexpected events. It is moving through the 4th house and will eventually connect with Chiron around 2015. It may take three years to achieve responsibility for the firearms we create and sell not only to our citizens but to the world. Children are killed every day by firearms; in the U.S. 5,740 children and teens were killed by guns between 2008 and 2009.
Yet three years to create change is something to keep within our hearts. In spite of the horrific losses, 12/14/12 was a day for new beginnings; can we pull out of the horror to create a frame for change? Otherwise looking ahead, we can expect more sorrow.
Wrap your arms around loved ones and smile at someone new each day. Blessings to you and love.
thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with us.
Blessings to you, Mary- I don’t feel very wise right now, but I seek a thread of hope in this sorrow because I must. Thank you.
