Forecast 5/14 The Scorpio Full Moon springs off this month’s new moon/solar eclipse. This is powerhouse energy, without the “colt out of the gate” that might have succeeded the New Moon. Judicious decisions must be made, but they may be fraught with emotional turmoil.
Full Moons are about integration; they call our attention to the illusion of duality, finger-pointing and separation. Since this Full Moon has Saturn (symbolizing boundaries) in line with the Moon, it emphasizes the work in relationships and shared resources that has been in force for the past couple of years. Your most important relationships may be highlighted at this time: spouse, partner, romance, business, friendships and professional. Although surprises are unlikely for those who have paid attention, this can be a reckoning time.
The Scorpio Moon is lit by the Taurus Sun. The polarity is in balance for a brief time and we face what is usually less conscious. Scorpio is the sign that plumbs the subconscious, in its quest for greater self-awareness. This can manifest on either side of the spectrum, from the manipulator who is always “working” a system in an attempt to avoid exposure, seeking revenge and an illusion of power. This low rung of Scorpio (associated with the image of the scorpion) is the person who prefers to make calculated attacks rather than transform the familiar wound within.
At the Full Moon, we are confronted with whatever physical reminder may trigger that wound. If a person has a more highly evolved relationship with their Scorpio urge, they are apt to reflect on the impulse to lash out or attack and plan a more strategic response. The Full Moon allows the opportunity to become conscious of the subconscious reaction. It is usually most active in relationships, especially with someone with whom you share resources (and/or with whom you have a physical bond).
The Sabian Symbol** for the position of the Sun is “A mounted Indian with scalp locks”. This is an image of power; a warrior sitting on a horse which allows him fast transit, a wide vista and a source of amplified strength. His hair design is specific to his tribal culture. In Eastern tribes like the Iroquois, a shaved head with a scalplock identified a warrior. This symbol emphasizes the confrontational ability of this Full Moon. Yet the warrior is not in motion, simply mounted at the ready. This image encourages decisive action and accountability. A good warrior does not act rashly, but in full awareness that the consequences are his/hers to absorb.
The Sabian Symbol** for the position of the Moon is: “Crowds coming down the mountain to listen to one man”. Consider the reverse order of this statement. Often the tale is about one man who goes up the mountain to return with the word. Yet this image has throngs of people going below to hear the message. This picture coupled with the other speaks of a willingness to hear the warrior’s message. This is not a passive moment, although some people will characteristically attempt to make it so. That which has been below the surface has the opportunity to be lit from many directions. The odds are that this is not a quiet, subliminal message that comes through. As a result, it may cause varying degrees of discomfort. This is not the time to continue to suppress a grievance or situation that needs to come to light. Revelations occur in a therapeutic process, health issues come to the surface and relationships that have become untenable pass from a grasp.
The Scorpio Full Moon occurs in the height of spring as a reminder that in order to promote a robust harvest we must choose what to compost. Nothing grows to its maximum potential without being pruned and fueled by decomposition. What is it you’re ready to recycle to welcome vigorous growth? The moon goes void-of-course/voc* at 3:16 p.m. ET.
*The Moon VOC/Void-of-Course… in Scorpio, you may find a lost object when you clean. If you’re trying to finish something up you may have trouble ending it.. take it as far to the crossroads and then step away. Silence is golden which may cause frustration if you need information… research other possibilities.. It might be better to curl up with a mystery, if possible.
** We are still in the process of understanding the Sabian symbols, which were channeled in 1925. The spiritualist astrologer Marc Edmund Jones, took Elsie Wheeler, a clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair to a San Diego park with a project. He put a symbol for each of the 360° of the zodiacal wheel on 360 cards. She proceeded to come up with visual phrases for each one of them. They were done in random order and they have a magic that is hard to decipher, yet feels totally right.
