Forecast 11/13 Today is powerful for getting projects off the ground, but don’t rush to launch. You may not see them take flight however, you can put the protocol in motion.

This New Moon is also a Solar Eclipse.

New Moons offer new beginnings; a time to plant seeds and throw out the net for new ideas, fresh starts. An eclipse emphasizes that energy, there is a volatile component to it, not necessarily violent, but certainly unpredictable. It is helpful therefore, to be clear on where you’d like the initiating opportunities to go; otherwise you may find yourself running in an unexpected direction. Do not start anything important until tomorrow or later.

The Scorpio New Moon occurs at 5:08 p.m. at 2°57”, after which time things may seem to fly out of your fingers.

The Sabian Symbol** for this degree is: “Hunters starting out for ducks”. Looking at this horoscope from the perspective of Washington DC, emphasizes the importance of relationship-building. The U.S. must take the initiative and accept nothing at face-value. There is a “wild-card” component, which may come from the people.

There’s been a bit of lunacy post-election, and it’s possible that more of the nation’s Shadow will stumble out in the next few weeks. What’s essential is direct and up-front use of power. We may not see it as operative as we’d like in government, but true transformation begins with each individual. So start with you- there’s no time of year as potentially transformational as the Scorpio New Moon, and this one is turbo-charged.

Considering the Sabian Symbol, the end result of coming together to hunt of course, is dinner. Duck hunters tend to eat their prey; ducks are not simply a “trophy” catch, but a reason for sustenance. Those of us in the NE have experienced a couple of weeks of energy drought, an aftermath of flooding. Many people have been giving second-thoughts to how cavalierly they use energy and take it for granted. Are our ducks in a row? Are we sitting ducks? Scorpio is all about accountability for what you take and what you put in to a project, a dream, a relationship. Whatever your “hunt” is about, let the target be something that truly feeds you.

A Scorpio New Moon is wonderful for beginning a financial merger (but take into account the Mercury/Jupiter retrogrades). It is also a rich time for a deepening of a sexual relationship or a commitment to start a family. One might also consider delving into psychic or intuitive awareness or find him/herself on a major life transition.

For you as an individual, the new growth energy at this time is electric. Although the actual outcome may feel a bit out of your control, the ability to forge unions is enhanced.

The clearer you are of your desired outcome before you go in, the better. A Mercury/Neptune picture in the evening may indicate confusion in conversations. If you’re comfortable allowing your imagination to take flight, you will do fine. If not, nail your thoughts down before that time so that you feel anchored in whatever you consider your reality.

Each planet has mythological stories that resonate with that sign. Scorpio conjures energy that Hecate, one of the oldest and most mysterious goddesses awakens. It was Hecate alone who had the courage to find Demeter/Ceres on her mournful search for her stolen daughter. It takes courage to confront irrevocable changes. Hecate is often depicted with 3 heads: maiden, mother, crone or past, present, future. Scorpio is energetically in line with renewal, midwifing and death. In other words, all of life’s big transitions and ones that we all deal with in some shape or form.

If you’re interested in joining my New Moon gathering at Opal Moon, it actually takes place on Wednesday 11/14 at 7 pm. Although the scheduling seems to have suffered a Mercury Retrograde mishap, we will honor the dark moon as scheduled. Whether or not you’re planning to attend, your homework is to acknowledge Luna in her dark veil of Scorpio and let the seeds of intense creativity fill your soul. This evening is rich for deep, quiet meditation and reflection. Make time for writing 3 things you would like to make happen over the next few weeks or lunar year. Put at least one thing on that list that you know you can make happen and one thing that will demand a bit of transformation on your part. Then slip it under your pillow and sleep on it.

Wishing you a beautiful New Moon and Solar Eclipse.

** We are still in the process of understanding the Sabian symbols, which were channeled in 1925. The spiritualist astrologer Marc Edmund Jones, took Elsie Wheeler, a clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair to a San Diego park with a project. He put a symbol for each of the 360∞ of the zodiacal wheel on 360 cards. She proceeded to come up with visual phrases for each one of them. They were done in random order and they have a magic that is hard to decipher, yet feels totally right.
