Daybreak- Maxfield Parrish

Daybreak- Maxfield Parrish

The Leo Full Moon occurs at 6:53 p.m. ET. The Sabian** symbol for the Leo Moon is: “Daybreak”. This is a fantastic image on the heels of the 1/30 New Moon, which was about highest hopes and wishes. Do you feel as though you see the light in the ambition or goal? If you started, launched or desired something at the beginning of the month, has there been any movement?

This is the full moon to reassess, realign and reevaluate your strategy. The retrograde Mercury allows new avenues of communication; don’t look for obvious methods. Let your intuition show you the way. The epiphany comes when you don’t look so hard. “Daybreak” is the revelation that the voice within provides.

In it’s purity the Leo Full Moon celebrates creative essence and playfulness. It is supported by community symbolized by the Aquarius sun. A good example of this occurs with the movement founded by Eve Ensler, V Day, which looks forward to the day when women and girls are safe, respected and valued everywhere.

violetThe Sabian** symbol for the Aquarius Sun is: “An ancient pottery bowl filled with violets”. Since the sun provides the light for a lovely full moon, it symbolizes the life source that pumps into the emotional realm. This image seems to dovetail with my recount of the festival of Lupercalia; ancient pottery linked to the urn for women’s names.

The violet has a long symbolic association with modesty and the ability to stay true to one’s singularity. I suspect that this allegiance is older than the written word. Greek mythology refers to the moon goddess Diana’s brother Apollo and his unrelenting chase for one of her virginal nymphs. To release her from this pursuit, Diana turns her into a violet. This stops Apollo in his tracks and turns ardor into admiration.

Conversely, violets are one of the flowers of Mary, mother of Jesus and the traditional flower for 50th wedding anniversaries.

This brings me to this analysis: the pottery bowl/urn is a vessel, symbolic of woman. The violets emulate her choice of who she serves and how she keeps herself apart. Since this very strong feminine image is the symbol for the Sun, and the Moon is “Daybreak” which is a masculine image, it reinforces the complement of opposites. We are not one without the other. Revelation comes through introspection. True creation flows when the interior life is respected and the exterior choices are supported.

The moon is void of course/VOC* as of 10:13 p.m. ET.  More about this Full Moon….

*Moon VOC/Void-of-Course… in Leo, you do well to play: window-shop, go to a museum or performance, flirt, and make some artwork.

** We are still in the process of understanding the Sabian symbols, which were channeled in 1925. The spiritualist astrologer Marc Edmund Jones, took Elsie Wheeler, a clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair to a San Diego park with a project. He put a symbol for each of the 360° of the zodiacal wheel on 360 cards. She proceeded to come up with visual phrases for each one of them. They were done in random order and they have a magic that is hard to decipher, yet feels totally right.
