This can be a highly productive morning; be responsible to yourself. This may take form in an exercise or work commitment, but do it for you. The Virgo Full Moon occurs at 1:08 p.m ET after which it is void of course/VOC*.
The dynamic between Virgo/Pisces is one that is very familiar to an actor or artist. Pisces envelopes a sense of Oneness, the stretch towards the eternal.
Virgo energy is about taking the time required to do something a certain way, the art of routine and the beauty of detail. It is the Pisces Sun that lights the Virgo Moon, infusing it with spiritual creativity.
This quote by Ira Glass sums it up beautifully: “Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit.
Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”
It doesn’t matter what form of creative expression, whether it’s fine arts, writing, redesigning your business, diagnosing a patient or drafting a compelling argument, but you have to be willing to go through the unsuccessful attempts. This Full Moon reignites the faith and vision that the toil is worth it.
The Sabian symbol** for the Pisces Sun is “A harvest moon” . This supports the question of what is reality when we’re in the realm of Pisces. The symbol for the Sun is a harvest moon? What? Let’s play with this. A harvest moon is a big, juicy full moon at the height of autumn. It speaks of bounty and hunkering down for the winter months. Yet this time of year is the end of winter (please dear God/ loving Goddess!) as we look forward to more time outside and longer days…. at least here in the northern hemisphere.
The Sabian Symbol** presents an image of glamour in the sky, while reminding us that what is reality for one part of the planet is the reverse for the other. Pisces is the sign of illusion and those who create illusions effectively, make them a reality.
The symbol** for the Virgo Moon is “Grande dames at tea”. It also projects an image of bounty, although separated by class. Tea is a ritual, regardless of income strata, but in this case it specifically identifies the gentry. Pushing the politics of class aside and isolating the elegance of the image, reveals people who enjoy the comfort and ritual of routine.
Lit by the harvest moon, the suggestion is to take in what you have labored for and appreciate where you are at this moment. So often we race after the not yet obtainable on the assumption that only when we’ve achieved it can we savor, rest and be happy. This means we miss being fully in the present.
There’s an old song that is a favorite in camps where cell phones don’t get reception:
“I can’t be contented with yesterday’s glory, I can’t live on promises, winter to spring… Today is my moment and now is my story, I’ll laugh and I’ll cry and I’ll sing”
Once the moon is void*, find the pleasure in the little things. A Sun/Mars picture may create some strife. Be alert driving. The ideal is to get your body moving at something you really enjoy… but pay attention if it’s been awhile since you’ve been doing it. You don’t want to go faster than is best for your equilibrium.
The moon enters Libra at 8:46 p.m. ET, which may be a perfect night to dance by the light of the moon!
*in Virgo, the void-of-course is great for organizing, finessing a project or exercise routine and clearing out closets. What is something seemingly insignificant that you’d like to make time to do? This may be the perfect time for it.
** We are still in the process of understanding the Sabian symbols, which were channeled in 1925. The spiritualist astrologer Marc Edmund Jones, took Elsie Wheeler, a clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair to a San Diego park with a project. He put a symbol for each of the 360° of the zodiacal wheel on 360 cards. She proceeded to come up with visual phrases for each one of them. They were done in random order and they have a magic that is hard to decipher, yet feels totally right.
