Forecast 8/25
The moon is void-of-course/voc* in the wee hours.
A Mercury/Mars picture indicates that dreams or revelations may carry inchoate messages yet instill a sense of urgency. Give it time to take form before you feel moved to act.
The Moon enters Virgo at 5:33 a.m. ET. A Venus/Uranus picture right on its heels encourages exploration into unusual forays. The old routine is ready for an overhaul. Some people may feel an attraction to someone or something other than “normal”; consider the possibility of an alternative. The morning has a Mercury/Saturn picture that stimulates clear and focused communication. Draft out your thoughts for an important message or contract.
The Virgo New Moon occurs at 10:13 a.m. ET. The strongest picture to the Sun and Moon in this configuration is with the planet Neptune (symbolizing at its best, the highest octave of Love and that which connects us in the Universal Unconscious). The busy Virgo New Moon wants to roll up its sleeves and get to the work at hand. Yet the position of Neptune indicates that the work flows when guided by Spirit. This New Moon carries a rich ability to get things off and running soon; although traditional wisdom counsels that the New Moon may be a bit “raw” to actually initiate a project, today and tomorrow may be the exception to the rule. If the opportunity is there, you may be well-served by taking action. What may hold you back is a sense of lack of support or lack of funds. If this is something that truly keeps you stuck, then you must come to terms with it. If it’s a hesitation based on fear, than you have to discover if it truly is with foundation.
The Sabian Symbol** for the degree of this Virgo New Moon is “Two Guardian Angels”. Several religious texts report that each individual has at least two guardian angels. This is a powerful reminder for this New Moon, because it speaks of your mystical allies in your physical journey on the earth plane. You may be feeling a deep mandate to take action at this time and the path can be daunting. Let the symbol of the guardians support your journey.
If this is a new concept for you, what would your celestial allies look like? Not everyone’s guardian angel is a human figure with wings. This beautiful painting of The Annunciation offers an amazing depiction of an angel. Mary’s body talk evokes her apprehension, yet in her face is awe and acceptance of the message to carry the Christ. The light from the angel seems to warm and fill her with its presence.
The red tapestry behind her glows with the courage she must gather and literally seems to “have her back”. You may picture an ancestor or an animal as your angel. Choose a pair of allies with whom you feel comfortable. Give yourself some time to allow them to take shape in your mind. Experiment with a mental picture of their support; you might be able to utilize their angelic buttress sooner than you think. At the very least, you are actively engaging your New Moon intentions.
A Mars/Saturn picture in the late afternoon makes it hard to hold back the reins. Another reason I chose this painting of outstanding angelic interpretation is that it was painted by the brilliant African-American artist, Henry Ossawa Tanner. His gifts were so exceptional that it allowed him to study in the Philadelphia School with the great Thomas Eakins, the first African-American allowed to do so. Yet many “society” people were threatened by his skin color and Tanner, like many terrific artists who didn’t fit the American ideal, moved to Paris to work with greater freedom. There he married a white opera singer and still dealt with prejudice, although not of the magnitude he experienced in his birth country.
This painting speaks volumes of Tanner’s understanding of the spirit and angelic guidance; may we all learn to grow into the light of greater love and understanding. With all the negative news out there, one might feel that it is impossible to create a world of Love and Respect. Yet the Virgo New Moon reminds us that every small step gathers a momentum. Moving forward probably makes more sense than standing in place. Don’t forget to check in with those guardian angels!

* We are still in the process of understanding the Sabian symbols, which were channeled in 1925. The spiritualist astrologer Marc Edmund Jones, took Elsie Wheeler, a clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair to a San Diego park with a project. He put a symbol for each of the 360° of the zodiacal wheel on 360 cards. She proceeded to come up with visual phrases for each one of them. They were done in random order and they have a magic that is hard to decipher, yet feels totally right. More about the Moon VOC
hello Pamela,
don’t know if you remember me from The Women’s Rites Center, but I haven’t forgotten how generous you were with your time. Since last we met , I have expanded my understanding of astrology and am quite enjoying your posts. Do you tutor individuals? I have many questions that aren’t always covered in books. Such as, why do you call this Virgo New Moon energy, “Queen Bee Energy”. My interest stems from the facts that I have a 9th house Moon in Virgo and am a beekeeper.
love to reconnect with you,
Blessed Bee,

SusanMerrie-
of course I remember you! To be part of that singing and dancing spiral that you led in a NYC loft is not an experience one forgets! I am teaching at Wainwright House in Rye starting this fall and I will contact you about the possibility of private tutoring.
As far as the “Queen Bee Energy” – you’re a perfect example of what I wanted to conjure. To call someone a “Queen Bee” has been traditionally a bit disparaging, as though the feminine just sits around while everyone else works. As a beekeeper, you are well aware that the Queen has the gargantuan task of keeping the hive alive. So she must be detail-oriented, dedicated to service and behind-the-scenes focus (typical Virgo tags).
Virgo is about ritual: diet, exercise, meditation, practice- one’s attention to these are the rituals that separate random acts from goal-directed. The “Queen Bee” is fed Royal Jelly; this aligns with a Virgoan awareness of the foods consumed for specific results. To become the Queen, there is an intense battle, as essentially the young females kill one another to reveal the new Queen.
This is not how people stereotypically think of healing Virgo energy, and yet in order to come up with spiritual gold (or the sweet honey), we have to be somewhat brutal about the weaker parts of ourselves. Habits and patterns that leave us vulnerable, stuck or non-evolved must be destroyed without nostalgia. Anyone who has battled an addiction knows that the only way to not be anorexic, alcoholic or a victim is to first make a choice to forgo that identity.
Just a few thoughts…
I will contact you soon-
blessings, light and love,
Pamela
