Forecast 10/15 The Libra New Moon occurs at 8:03 a.m. ET at 22° Libra 32”.
The Moon goes void-of-course (VOC)* exactly at that time where it remains ALL DAY. The void time suggests a real assessment of what to do before you plunge forward. Outline strategy, de-clutter, meditate. Going forward is not always in a rush of activity; sometimes it requires centering and consideration. In order to release a vessel to go forward, the phrase is: casting off.
The Sabian Symbol** for the degree of this moon is “Chanticleer”. I don’t know about you, but I had to look up the meaning of that word. It is the antiquated title for a rooster, the cock that calls loudly to herald dawn. I am not a farm girl, so my memories of personal encounters with roosters are very vivid.
My personal stories with roosters are triggers. The first occurred when I lived in Washington Heights when I moved to Manhattan after college… I was attracted to the sprawling apartments with river views and ignored the reality that I lived in what a detective later told me was “the crack capital of the world”. After a time I started waking up to a crow from a rooster which seemed crazy; speeding cars down Riverside Drive in occasional pile ups or boom boxes blasting rap music was the norm. However, there was a large sunken alley behind my apartment that I spied the rooster strutting through the snow.
A neighbor explained to me that he probably was left out there to toughen up between cock fights. I was fascinated and horrified. Symbolically perhaps, the rooster was alerting me to the fact I really did not know the landscape of where I lived. When he disappeared after a couple of weeks, I missed him and wondered if he survived. It was a tough environment, to say the least.
When you hear the wake-up call it’s time to pay attention; what relationships do you need to come to terms with and what are your ambitions within them? A Libra New Moon is the opening for a fresh start in relationships, justice and/or a creative partnership. Don’t overthink it, but stretch to extend to the “other”.
Libra is supported by the goddess, Venus Aphrodite. Her symbol is the mirror. When you are thwarted or stymied in a relationship, it’s time to look in the mirror. The answer to change in any relationship always begins there.
The old story is the hero/heroine transforms his/her appearance and the beloved notices the change and falls in love. Yet the message is not simply about the transformed one’s visage, it’s about changing within and change of behavior. To start something new in a relationship or to bring a new relationship into your life, look in the mirror. What has to change or begin within you to make that happen? After the void, the moon enters Scorpio at 8:06 p.m. ET, suggesting an intense period of focus. Choose your companions or projects wisely. The next 24 hours + can yield tremendous accomplishments. What are you putting out for a cooperative vision with today’s Libra New Moon potential?
*Moon VOC/Void-of-Course… in Libra, enjoy a museum, music, dance. It may be lovely to be with someone you love as long as you don’t initiate any major discussions.
** We are still in the process of understanding the Sabian symbols, which were channeled in 1925. The spiritualist astrologer Marc Edmund Jones, took Elsie Wheeler, a clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair to a San Diego park with a project. He put a symbol for each of the 360∞ of the zodiacal wheel on 360 cards. She proceeded to come up with visual phrases for each one of them. They were done in random order and they have a magic that is hard to decipher, yet feels totally right.
